About the company
West Coast Floor Company, founded in 1898, is a family-owned and operated flooring contractor based in Napa, California. The company installs and refinishes hardwood flooring and installs engineered hardwood, laminate, luxury vinyl plank and carpet for residential, commercial, and institutional clients across Napa, Solano, Sonoma, Contra Costa, and Marin counties. California Contractors State License #891057.
West Coast Floor Company was founded in 1898, which makes it one of the oldest continuously trading names in the Napa Valley flooring trade. The present generation, led by Jesus Martinez, has more than forty years of experience in the work.
Very few trades in this valley can point at a date in the 1890s. The badge on the door has said EST. 1898 for a long time, and the hand plane on it is not decoration — sanding and finishing wood in place is still the thing this shop does better than anything else.
The business is owned by Jesus Martinez and run as a family operation. That matters less as a slogan than as a practical fact: the person who quotes the job is connected to the person who sands it, and both of them are still around when you call about a scratch two winters later.
Most flooring companies install what the supplier is discounting that quarter. A hardwood specialist starts underneath — the subfloor, the moisture reading, the age of the joists — because that is what decides whether a floor lies flat in five years or cups the first wet winter.
The specialty work is the tell: sand-and-finish restoration on floors other contractors have written off, custom stain matching to an existing room, borders and inlays, stairs and railings, and buff-and-recoat maintenance that adds years before a full refinish is needed. That is also why the crew handles both water-borne and oil-borne finishes rather than only the one they happen to stock.
California requires a contractor’s license for any job over $500 in labor and materials. West Coast Floor Company holds CSLB #891057, and you can check it yourself in about fifteen seconds — status, classification, and any history — on the state board’s own lookup.

Out of the Napa showroom, across Napa, Solano, Sonoma, Contra Costa and Marin counties. Most weeks that means Napa, American Canyon, Vallejo, Benicia, Fairfield and Vacaville, with commercial and sports work reaching further out. See the full service area.
A crew of 12 — small enough that the owner knows every job, big enough to phase work around a school calendar and hold a schedule. For schools, gyms and commercial spaces that combination is usually the whole question. Sports and gymnasium flooring and commercial flooring have their own pages.
